Louis is a GZ-Psychologist with a great passion for gaming. For him, a game training that offers therapy is the most valuable thing you can develop: especially for pain complaints, which are on the interesting intersection of body and mind. His aim is to make himself dispensable as a therapist.

This week was all about paying attention to the body. Especially by applying an exercise from the mindfulness, the body scan.

Why attention works

Giving attention to pain is and of the most difficult things there is. It is much easier to ignore pain, to be angry and sad and to avoid pain as much as possible.

Again, the earlier comparison of the argument is good. If you have an argument, it is easier to ignore that person and blame him or her. It is difficult to see what you yourself could have done differently and to start a conversation. But it is also the only way to get out of the argument.

Further on from here

If you have succeeded in practicing the body scan a couple of times this week, then that is a good start! It probably is very difficult and hard work to do and maintain such an exercise. Living better with pain is hard work. But you have taken the first steps in solving the 'quarrel' with your alarm system.

Time to deepen your knowledge of mindfulness. This can be done with the following apps:

Headspace
Tencent Happier

Or find a trainer near you.
